Over a period of time the contacts have become dirty, due to sparking (as one would expect), However, this also causes the contacts to get hot, and over time this has caused the contact to melt into the lower plastic 'Stop-off' pillar - due to the low 'flash-point' of the plastic.. causing the pump to fail to work. In order to remedy this, I have had to insert a thin metal 'shim' on top of the stop-off, so that the contact rests on metal when it is in the 'off' position.
